Pass Plus Scheme
Pass Plus is an established training course designed by the DSA ( Driving Standards Agency ), with the help of insurers and the driver training industry. The course is designed to help new drivers build upon their skills and knowledge base.
Statistics show that new drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first two years after passing their test, due to lack of driving experience.
Pass Plus will help enhance the way you anticipate, plan for and deal with all kinds of hazards, and to help you become a more confident driver.
Pass Plus modules
Pass Plus consists of six modules about driving in different conditions:
- in town
- in all weathers
- on rural roads
- at night
- on dual carriageways
- on motorways
The six modules take around six hours to complete (6 hrs minimum). Although made up of modules it can be completed in one day. A Pass Plus course with nicedriving uses a tried and tested route from Shrewsbury using the M54 and M6 to Birmingham. A complex drive around various parts of the city negotiating unusual junctions not found in small towns. More use of motorways using the M42 giving time for the driver to demonstrate new learning, heading eastward towards Kings Heath and further training within city suburbs. A rural route using national speed limit roads are used to head back to Shrewsbury via Stourbridge and Bridgnorth. As well as introducing the driver to new environments not previously experienced on normal lessons, the course is also treated as a defensive driving course taking anticipation and awareness a step further using advanced driving techniques. Depending on the ability of the driver, the time is also used to improve the control skills of the driver again with advanced driving techiniques.
