Learner Course

A fully structured driving course covering everything from the controls of the car to driving on all road types including Dual carriageways. You will master basic car control which will enable you to drive on public roads safely following the DSA approved syllabus. You will also be guided through various manoeuvres such as turn in the road, reversing around corners and parking. As you progress you will then learn how to negotiate road hazards and blend in with other road users maintaining good progress whilst also effectively looking out for danger and potential hazards. By the time you are ready for test I can assess you myself with a mock test conducted just like the real thing to ensure you are competent.

Refresher Course

Aimed at current full licence holders who may not have driven for some time or maybe want to update skills or knowledge? After an initial informal chat about what your requirements are i can have a look at your driving via a short driving assessment to see what your driving is like, and then set out a plan of instruction to suit your specific needs and help you reach your own personal goal of what you want to achieve. I can cover as much or as little as you like, some people for example just want to look at motorways or help with understanding certain complex junctions.

Pass Plus

After passing a driving test if you are aged below 25 you are more likely to be involved in a road traffic incident than other drivers who are older who may have more experience. Because of this some insurance companies will give you a discount on your insurance if you are prepared to further your knowledge and gain more experience in new environments by doing a pass plus course. There is no test involved, but you will be taught and then assessed by me. Upon successful completion of the course, the DSA will present you with a certificate which will entitle you to certain insurance discounts, not also forgetting to mention that you should also be a better and safer driver as a result of completing the course.

Pass Plus Course Includes:

  • Introduction and town driving.
  • All-weather driving.
  • Out of town driving and rural roads.
  • Night driving.
  • Dual carriageways.
  • Motorways.

Advanced driving course

Advanced driving courses can be tailored to suit the individual depending on the final goal you wish to achieve. Your instructor has recently acquired a Grade A pass for the DSA Cardington Advanced Special test and also a Gold award for the ROSPA advanced test. Driving styles and procedures differ between such tests and you can decide which would suit you best.

Fleet driving courses

A range of courses designed for company vehicle drivers to reduce the high risks they face whilst driving as part of their work. A fifth of all road traffic consists of vehicles used for work purposes, yet up to a third of all collisions involve one of those vehicles. Driving as part of your job has increased risks which can be managed and reduced. Undertaking a course can help reduce the likelihood of such accidents that would usually result in lost man hours or use of vehicle. Not only that, you are now required by law to provide adequate driver training for any employee who drives a vehicle on a road as part of their job description, whether you provide the vehicle or they use their own. Benefits include reduced fuel consumption, enhanced vehicle control, correct road procedure, defensive driving techniques and advanced hazard awareness and planning. As an employer providing company vehicles you may even want a potential employees driving assessed before you let them loose on the roads advertising your company. Your vehicles being seen driven badly certainly won’t attract any new business!

Assessment

Your employee or potential employee will be assessed over the period of about an hour whilst driving a mixture of road types to establish their general standard of driving. This will help you make an informed decision as to whether the driver is of the standard required or whether any further training would be necessary.

Full Day Course 1:1

A one day course would begin with a presentation followed by an assessment of the employees driving ability. The instructor would then target any areas that might need attention and give the relevant coaching required. There would then be a final driving assessment for recording the driver’s improvement. Following the course a full written report would be provided.

Half Day Course (3.5hrs)

A half day course would follow a similar format to the full days course. Suited more for employees who have previously attended a fleet course but requiring a refresher whilst keeping costs to a minimum.
